The Arlington County Board will be making decisions in early 2015 on whether parkland and community centers can be converted to other uses.  Please join our efforts to save them by signing the petition below.

I support preserving and using Arlington County owned parkland and community centers solely for park, recreation, and community center purposes for the benefit of current and future generations.

The last thing we need is more development! Save the parks!

I live in a condo, and the parks are the only place we have to get out and enjoy the outdoors with our dog. I have a baby on the way, and I don’t want her to live in a place where she doesn’t have a lot of green space to enjoy. We need more parks, not fewer.

Having recently returned from living overseas, I was immediately struck by the unfortunate changes at Four Mile Run. Signage is everywhere, there is a new and wide staircase to the path from the adjacent community center where there was already ready access to the path, and at Colombia Pike there is a huge construction project. Construction equipment meanwhile is dumped albeit temporarily along the creek across the street. What has happened to any sense of esthetics?

With the abundance of vacant office space in this county it’s painfully obvious to me that an new school should be located in one of these commercial buildings. I’m sure the County Board can change zoning laws to accommodate a school in former commercial space. It’s time for schools to go vertical.
